Privacy Policy
Effective November 5, 2026
DocSave runs on your iPhone. Your documents, photos, recognized text and signatures are stored on the device and are not sent anywhere. We have no server holding your files, so we can’t see, lose or share them.
- No account or sign-up
- No analytics or tracking
- No ads
- Free, no subscriptions
This policy explains how the DocSave iOS app (the “app”) and the DocSave website handle information. “We” means the developer of DocSave.
What data the app handles
Everything you add to DocSave is stored in the app’s protected storage on your iPhone:
- scans, photos, PDFs and other files;
- text recognized in your documents and the details found in it: numbers, dates, amounts, payment details, contacts;
- fields from ID documents (such as a passport or driver’s license), if you scan them;
- signatures, folders, titles, notes, expiration dates and reminders;
- app settings.
This data is not shared with us or with any third party. We can’t see which documents you keep or how you use the app.
On-device text recognition
Text is recognized by Apple’s Vision framework and a machine learning model that runs on the iPhone itself. Document images and recognized text are not sent to any server for processing. Recognition works in airplane mode too.
iOS permissions
The app asks for access only when a feature needs it, and only with your consent. You can revoke it any time in iOS Settings.
- Camera
- To scan documents. Photos are saved only inside DocSave.
- Photos
- You pick photos through Apple’s system picker, so the app gets only the photos you choose. Permission to add photos is needed only if you save a document to your photo library.
- Face ID
- To lock the app. Biometrics are handled by iOS; DocSave only gets a “yes” or “no” and has no access to your face data.
- Notifications
- Reminders about document expiration dates. These are local notifications scheduled by the iPhone itself, without our server.
Backups
Backup is off until you turn it on. The backup is encrypted with a password you set and saved wherever you choose: your Apple Account’s iCloud Drive, the device, or the Files app. Storage in iCloud is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
We have no access to your backups and don’t know your password. If you forget the password, the backup can’t be restored.
When the app goes online
DocSave doesn’t need the internet to work. It needs a connection only once: to download the ID recognition model. You start the download yourself, and the model files come from Apple’s servers (On-Demand Resources). The request contains none of your documents or personal data. Once downloaded, the model works offline.
When you send a document through the Share menu, by email or in a messaging app, the file goes to the app or recipient you chose. From then on, their rules apply.
What the app doesn’t have
- accounts, logins or sign-up;
- third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising, tracking or crash reporting;
- tracking across apps and websites, or use of the advertising identifier (IDFA);
- purchases or subscriptions.
If you’ve turned on “Share With App Developers” in iOS settings, Apple may send us anonymized crash reports. They contain none of your documents and help us fix bugs. You can change this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Sharing data with third parties
We don’t sell, share or disclose your data, because we never receive it. Data from the app is not used for advertising, profiling or training models.
Contacting support
If you write to us through the support form, we receive your email address, the text of your message and the name of your browser. We use this only to reply. The message is processed by our function on Cloudflare and sent to us as an email through the Resend mail service. We keep the conversation as long as needed to help you and will delete it on request.
Website
The DocSave website uses no cookies, counters or analytics. Fonts and all site files load from our own domain, with no third-party services. The support form checks that you’re not a bot using Cloudflare Turnstile, which sets no advertising cookies and doesn’t track you on other sites.
Deleting your data
You can delete a document in the app; deleted documents first go to the trash, where you can erase them for good. Deleting DocSave from your iPhone removes all of its data from the device. Backups can be deleted in the Files app or in iCloud Drive.
Children
The app collects no data about anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, for example when a new feature is added, the updated version will appear on this page with a new date.
